Why This Workshop?

For years, Gaarden has lacked affordable, accessible spaces for performing arts—whether theater, dance, film, or media art. Storage? Nonexistent. The result: cultural actors leave, ideas remain unrealized, and the neighborhood loses its vibrancy.

But we’re changing that! In 2023, the Network for Revolutionary Impatience (NfRU), Kulturinitiative Gaarden, and local cultural actors joined forces to develop a cultural center for Gaarden—a place that will:

  • Enable art: Production spaces, storage, and stages for all disciplines.
  • Foster participation: Open workshops, readings, concerts—for all ages.
  • Connect neighbors: A meeting place that sparks new ideas through exchange and experimentation.
  • Move Gaarden forward: Networking initiatives, associations, and local actors.
  • Create spaces for diverse communities and needs → Build places of encounter.

Now it’s time for action! This workshop is your chance to co-create—whether you’re an artist, neighbor, activist, or simply someone who wants to make Gaarden more vibrant.

What to Expect

Together, we’ll work on concrete steps for the cultural center:

  • Share visions: What does your dream cultural center look like?
  • Clarify needs: What spaces, offerings, and structures does Gaarden require?
  • Build networks: Who can join—and how do we make it happen?
  • Develop an action plan: From idea to reality.
