3. Bahide-Arslan Platz
The “Mordanschlag von Mölln” refers to a tragic incident that occurred in Mölln, Germany, on November 23, 1992. In this attack, a house inhabited by a Turkish family was set on fire by right-wing extremists. Three members of the family, including two children, lost their lives in the attack, and several others were injured.
Bahide Arslan was the grandmother of the two children who died in the attack. The victims were Yeliz Arslan (age 10), Ayşe Yılmaz (age 14), and their grandmother Bahide Arslan (age 51). The attack was a horrific act of violence driven by xenophobia and racism, and it shocked the nation. It brought attention to the issue of far-right extremism and hate crimes in Germany.
The Mölln attack is a painful chapter in German history, and it has had a lasting impact on discussions around racism, tolerance, and integration in the country. It is important to remember such events as a reminder of the consequences of hate and to work towards fostering understanding and solidarity among diverse communities.
